The Sweet Hereafter - Russell Banks Whoever said that they wished they had read the book before seeing the movie was spot on. It kind of ruined the book for me because I already knew the secrets the characters were carrying and the outcomes. Not just that, but the movie embedded visuals in my head, so it was harder to create my own. It almost sucks that the film adaptation was so good and accurate to the source material. It was almost like I was just reading the movie. I find that to be the issue whenever I read the original book after seeing the movie, though there are exceptions (José Saramago's Blindness is one. I couldn't even get through the first 20 pages due to his writing style).
